Studies have proved that generation Alpha, the people who are born since 2010 have shorter attention spans in comparison to Gen Z, and the later have lesser concentration power than the millennials.  Also raised as “screenagers,” Gen Alpha have a higher screen time than their predecessors and they use gadgets as pacifiers, entertainment and education aid. The earlier generation had habits like reading and long form writing, however with the newer trends of gamification of education, increased digital literacy and impaired social formation concentration issues are faced in children.

Restrict visual distractions
If a kid is struggling with lack of concentration, restrict visual or audio distraction around him/her. Digital clutter like excessive use of digital gadgets can tamper with the kid’s concentration, or might tempt him to divide focus between studies and gadgets.

Play memory games
For a stronger memory, a healthy brain is must, that has high reasoning and analytical capabilities. Memory games can helps your kid to attain a healthier brain. Try games like Crossword puzzles, Chess, Jigsaw puzzles, Rebus puzzles, Sudoku, Rubik cubes, Concentration games, or games where players need to multitask.

Check for any nutrition deficiency
Try to include sources of vitamins and nutrients in your diet, as they help in improving your memory power. We have listed here some food sources which will boost your brainpower:

• Zinc and Iodine help in building the cognitive function of the brain. Add zinc-rich food items like meat, fish, legumes, mushrooms, spinach, broccoli, garlic, nuts and seeds, cereals, and dairy to your diet.

• Include iodine-rich food sources like cod, seaweed, turkey, yogurt, tuna, eggs, strawberries to boost the cognitive function of the body.

• Lack of Vitamin B6, B12, and folate can cause fatigue in the body and their adequacy in the body can boost concentration. Try to include food sources like meat, fish, bread, eggs, vegetables, peanuts, milk, and cereals rich in vitamin B6 and B12. Introduce legumes that are rich in Folate to increase concentration and memory power.

• Omega-3 and its essential fatty acid DHA increase the learning capability of the brain. Include Omega-3 rich foods like fish, nuts, seeds, and egg yolks to enhance the memory power of the brain.

Be Aware Happenings around you
Know about the current affairs and happenings of the world around you. The world is full of events and it is great food for the mind. Indulge in discussions with friends and acquaintances; the more you think the more grows the power of your brain.

Readout lessons loud
Students need to memorize a lot of things, a trick to do that is to read out loud. They can read out loud with voice modulations and if they hear what they are reading, it will help them to understand things better and remember them as well.

Analyze critical problems
To increase the memory power, you should start to analyze problems with various interpretations. If you start analyzing a situation by examining the facts and data related to it, your analytical and reasoning skills will be honed which will ultimately boost your memory power.
