3000 mts event was an open event to all schools from Bangalore. She competed with the best runners and did remarkably well finishing fourth. Extra effort would have pushed her to the third position. Credit cannot be taken away from her for her stupendous effort.

BASKET BALL

Jain Heritage School Basket ball team (Girls) (U-16) played against New Horizon School in the first round of the   Bangalore School Olympics tournament at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium Basket ball Court.

JHS did not live up to the expectations and exhibited a poor performance in the competition. They missed out a lot of opportunities on scoring. The team did not combine well and their tactics was not up to the mark. There was no proper passing, dribbling, and shooting through out the match. All the students failed to mark the opponents and were too slow on the court. The opponents were scoring at will and JHS lost the match by a big margin.

It was a good exposure for the students to participate in the tournament and they have to work hard to improve the tactics. The girls have to improve their match temperament and play as a team. The most important area they have to work is on their fitness.

VOLLEY BALL

Jain Heritage School (U-16) boys played their first round match against Poorna Pragna School, Bangalore in the Bangalore School Olympics tournament at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium Volley ball Court.

Jain Heritage School won the toss and elected to serve first. Our school students started off well by taking an early lead of 4-1 and put the opponents under pressure. But our team failed to capitalize on this golden opportunity and lost the first set 10-25. In the second set our students came back strongly from 05-10 to level the score 10-10. After that we could not maintain the tempo and the boys were unable to defend and were squandering the points easily to the opponents. The spikers could not smash well to score points and in the end surrendered the set 15-25 and lost the match. Only Captain of the school team Dixit Patel and to some extent Rishab performed well.

We were a bit unlucky as we faced a strong opponent in the very first round of the tournament. But it was a good match experience for the Boys and matches like these will give them good confidence and improve on their performance.

RESULTS

Jain Heritage School lost to Poorna Pragna School  10-25, 15-25.

CRICKET

A Friendly Match was played against Presidency School, Nandini Layout on 5th Dec 2009 at Malleswaram 18th Cross ground. It was a 30 over game.. Some of the U-12 boys were included in the team to get exposure and match experience. It was a 30 over game. Batting first JHS scored only 137 runs and was all out in the 21st over. Only Abhijit, Vishak Rao and Dixit crossed double figures. The other batsmen did not have the patience to stay at the wicket. Abhijit and Vishak Rao added 45 runs for the second wicket and looking good for a big score. But poor concentration and focus cost them the wickets. The other batsmen did not have any clue against some good intelligent bowling by the Presidency School bowlers. JHS folded up in the 21st over and wasted 9 overs.

In reply Presidency School lost an early wicket but their captain Mukund with a cool head played a sedate and a responsible innings and made sure that he stays till the end and which he did. He scored 52 runs. Presidency lost only two wickets and won the match in the 25th over. JHS bowlers bowled well in patches but did not have any impact on the Presidency batsmen. Shivaprasad and Vishal Jain bowled very well.

Senior players should take responsibility and perform and they should rally around with the juniors encouraging them on the field and giving them confidence.
