JHS Science teachers' attend the Physics Workshop on 'Tracker'

JHS Science teachers' attended the Physics Workshop on 'Tracker' conducted by Bangalore Association for Science Education (BASE) on July 6 and 7 at Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium. The workshop was conducted by Mr. HR Madhusudan, the Senior Scientific Officer at Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium.

The workshop was aimed at introducing 'Tracker' to teach mechanics and optics. 'Tracker' is a freely downloadable video analysis software that runs on computers and it is beneficial in teaching mechanics and some aspects of optics. The workshop helped the teachers to understand the difficult concepts of mechanics.

During the workshop, using Tracker on Java 1.6, a simple mechanics experiment was performed and a graph related to distance, velocity, acceleration, momentum vs time was plotted from the slope area to understand the concept. Around 30 to 40 experimental videos were provided for analysis and discussion. The workshop was a boon for the teachers who are associated with mechanics and optics.
